# How to Set Up SMTP for Email via SendGrid

> Learn how to set up SMTP for SendGrid, including the host, port, and login details.

Use these settings with PDF.co’s [Send Email API](/api/email/send) to send emails with or without attachments through your SendGrid account. You can call the API directly or use PDF.co’s integrations with Zapier and Make. See Reference Material below for integration guides.

## SMTP Server Details

* **SMTP Server/Host:** `smtp.sendgrid.net`
* **SMTP Port:** `587`

## Authentication Information

* **SMTP User Name:** `apikey`
* **SMTP Password:** YOUR\_SENDGRID\_API\_KEY

## Additional Information

* SendGrid requires the use of an API key instead of a traditional username and password for authentication. This enhances security by allowing you to restrict permissions based on your needs.
* Ensure your application or email client is configured to use TLS encryption on port 587 to secure email transmissions.

## Reference Material

* For detailed guidance on how to use SendGrid’s SMTP service, including how to generate and manage your API key, consult this SendGrid documentation: [SendGrid SMTP Integration Guide](https://docs.sendgrid.com/for-developers/sending-email/drupal).
