# How to Set Up SMTP for Email via GMAIL

> Learn how to set up SMTP for Gmail, including the host, port, and login details.

Use these settings with PDF.co’s [Send Email API](/api/email/send) to send emails with or without attachments through your Gmail account. You can call the API directly or use PDF.co’s integrations with Zapier and Make. See Reference Material below for integration guides.

## SMTP Server Details

* **SMTP Server/Host:** `smtp.gmail.com`
* **SMTP Port:** `587`

## Authentication Information

* **SMTP User Name:** Your GMAIL email address (e.g., `yourname@gmail.com`).
* **SMTP Password:** Your GMAIL password or an app-specific password.

## Creating an App-Specific Password

Due to security measures, Google may require the use of an app-specific password for applications accessing your GMAIL account. An app-specific password is a 16-digit passcode that gives a less secure app or device permission to access your Google Account.

Learn how to generate an app-specific password by visiting this detailed guide: [How to Generate Google App-Specific Password](https://knowledge.workspace.google.com/kb/how-to-create-app-passwords-000009237).
